Mennonite Men

Books:
Mennonite Men, an organization of the Mennonite Church, is a jointly owned partnership of Mennonite Church USA and Mennonite Church Canada. Mennonite Men, formerly an organization of the General Conference Mennonite Church, resources men's groups in local Congregations, and promotes and develops men's resources. On a Church wide basis Mennonite Men sponsors the JoinHands Mennonite Church Building Program, develops and provides resources for men's groups, and provides a clearing house for men's interests in congregations and area conferences.

Mennonite Men is an organization that aims to provide an Anabaptist perspective on manhood that speaks to current issues. Local Mennonite Men groups exist or emerge for service projects, Bible study, prayer, mutual support, and study of Christian male identity. The Mennonite Men office in Newton, Kansas, suggests resources and shares information between groups.

A priority for Mennonite Men is to provide church building grants to newer congregations through its JoinHands Mennonite Church Building Program. Since the beginning of the JoinHands program in 1985, 34 churches in Canada, the United States, and overseas have received church building grants totaling $887,600. Several hundred donors give an average of $200 per year for this work. These grants contribute to a partnership of the local church and area Mennonite Conferences. By drawing down their indebtedness, congregations are freed up for more effective outreach in their local and wider communities. The JoinHands Mennonite Church Building Program approach has now encouraged men to volunteer their skills and time helping to construct new meetinghouses.
